Junior Golf

The Junior Golf program at Cherry Hill has thrived for decades, and it has served to educate its participants on golf skills and etiquette. It has produced many accomplished golfers, including a mini-tour professional, and a two-time New York Sate Amateur Champion. Many of today's members came up through the Cherry Hill Junior program.

Junior Golf takes place on Tuesday mornings. The professional staff conducts weekly lessons on all aspects of the game, starting with the grip and swing and leading to the various shots, such as putting, chipping and driving the ball. Parents and grandparents play an integral role in the program, by accompanying the Juniors for instruction and play.

For both girls and boys, there are 3-, 6-, 9- and 18-hole divisions, providing a well-structured format as players advance in their skills and capabilities. The 3-hole golfers utilize the short game practice facility, teeing off from designated areas around the practice green, before they graduate to the course proper.

In late August, the Junior Championships are held for all divisions. The girls and boys 18-hole divisions play 36-holes medal play gross. The winners share the coveted position of prominence with the other Club tournament winners on the boards that adorn the walls of the grill room in the Clubhouse.
